Introduction reads "So how does an asthmatic child born in Pittsburgh in 1945 become a healthy, happily married engineer, retired from a most fulfilling career in the lighting industry, and enjoying the cultural oasis of rival city Cleveland 75 years later? How does "Light" enter the picture? Does he also become "Enlightened"? For the answers to these and many other questions, dear reader, bear with me for the next 100 or so pages. The short answer is that the combination of innate skills, family, friends, world events, and a bit of luck created a path totally unpredictable in 1945 Pittsburgh. This path leads through Murrysville, Pennsylvania; Boston, Massachusetts; Princeton, New Jersey; almost Vietnam; Palo Alto, California; Amherst, Massachusetts; and Schenectady, New York before reaching Cleveland, Ohio. There were many great adventures and journeys afar along the way. This is not to say that other lives do not share similarly interesting and unpredictable journeys, but few are as connected with light as mine."
